Now here’s a good start to the day and one almighty recommendation
The Backyard Cafe Riverside [#11b Street 246 – tel: 078751715 – 7am to 8pm every day]
Followed by 3+ hours just wandering, taking it all in…
And then we felt compelled to return to Backyard Cafe for a well earned juice and coffee + obligatory cheesecake.
I do appreciate that today’s post reads something like, ‘and this is what we ate next‘, but after yesterday a lighter day was our want.
So, on that theme, in the evening we headed out for the Golden Pumpkin Restaurant in the knowledge that its sister place is in our next destination, Siem Reap.
We walked so far, confident that we absolutely did not know where we were going. And then the heavens opened. This gentleman was our saviour!
Owing to the fact we were handed only large denomination dollar bills at the ATM, we were even more thankful when he accepted $US2 + a fistful of Kampuchean Riel, all with that delightful Cambodian smile that marks this place.
I really don’t know what was more startling, the height the rain bounced back off the road or the sound of it.
