We made a slow start today, breakfast and then an amble around town, wandering up and down side streets, happening on what we happened upon.
Kandal Village is great for little boutique shops selling locally crafted stuff.

We liked in particular this handmade clay jewellery, branded Claycult Cambodia and available on-line [click on link].
Next door to this boutique is The Little Red Fox Espresso Cafe If you ever find yourself in Siem Reap, in search of a good cafe, this is the place.

The coffee is regionally sourced and roasted. The cookie and ice cream was quite something! We walked away satisfied, and with a 500g bag of coffee beans to savour when back home, dreaming of being back here.
We are visiting at the very back end of the rainy season so are quite accepting of the odd downpour. Mind, when it comes down it comes down! An efficient drainage system sees it off though.
When this particular shower interrupted the day we sheltered underneath the canopy of this shop. The shop owner presented us with two chairs and encouraged us to be seated, with a broad smile.
From our viewing point we marvelled at what is typical of this place, the way people negotiate one another when on the move. This is all the more remarkable on the roads. I am really not sure what the rules are but everyone (cars, scooters, bicycles, tuk-tuks) find a way. No agitation, no honking of horns, and no mishaps.
Oh, we have so much to learn from these lovely people. I very nearly walked into a young lady powering along on her scooter, she stopped, smiled graciously, and waved me by.
Having spotted this sign, this morning, enticed by the good humour and the funky look of the place, we landed there for a meal, this evening. The food was full of flavour but a little cold. Ah well, you cannot win them all. I suppose any reference to the Donald should be enough to send you in the opposition direction!

Hanoi and VIETNAM tomorrow…
